How Retinal Imaging Glaucoma Exams Help Protect Long-Term Vision
Glaucoma is often described as the “silent thief of sight,” but that phrase can make the disease sound more mysterious than it needs to be. In clinical practice, the reason glaucoma is dangerous is straightforward: it can damage the optic nerve gradually, often without pain, redness, or noticeable blur until the disease has already taken a meaningful amount of peripheral vision. Once that vision is lost, we cannot restore it with glasses, drops, laser treatment, or surgery.
